ProjectSAM has released Tutti Hits, a free orchestral instrument for Native Instruments’ Kontakt.

We’re kicking off The Free Orchestra series with a light-weight, yet thundering, set of orchestral Tutti Hits. A collection of col legno hits, full orchestra stabs, low brass clusters and horn rips, ready to be used in your very next action, ghost or horror score.

Tutti Hits can be downloaded for free via the ProjectSAM site (Full version of Kontatk required).

Prsima sounds has released Taiko, a free percussion instrument for Native Instruments’ Kontakt.

Taiko is a free Kontakt instrument based on Subaqueous music Free Taiko Drum Rack and S. Christian Collins’s port for Sforzando. As we made plenty of use of these samples, we decided to bring this instrument to Kontakt. We took the chance to add a few more controls on the instrument for some sound design fun.

The additional controls include:

• Velocity to volume control.
• 3-band equalizer.
• ADSR filter.
• FX tab with distortion, saturation, delay and compression.
• Arpeggiator module

Taiko is available for free via the Prisma Sounds website. You will need Kontakt 5.6.8 or higher (full version) to run the samples.

PulseSetter-Sounds have released Metalstorm, a free Kontakt library for trailer composers. The library features 60 Kontakt patches made with Metalstorm samples.

This odd choice is part of our Cybertrash (Freebies) series where we grab public domain and deep web sound sources and transform them into cool sound design instruments. This time its a machine gun (Metalstorm)  that fires 33,000 bullets per second, which was transformed into Braams, Alarms, Plucks, Pads, Impacts and trailer hits. The Kontatk library comes with impacts, alarms, plucks and pads. On top of that, the original WAV files are accessible for users without Kontakt.

Atom Hub has released Mechaniano, a free Kontakt library that combines pianos, synths and metal objects sound design.

Acoustic tones of an old piano mangled together with synth samples and metal objects sampled outside in a town park. The result is a nice little instrument capable of melancholic, deteriorated sounds reminding untuned piano, marimba, metalophone, or music box.

Wavesfactory has released Typewriter, a free Kontakt instrument featuring the sounds of a Royal vintage typewriter.

The typewriter was sampled at Calma Estudis in Spain. The sounds were meticulously recorded using four separate microphone positions (close stereo, stereo ribbon, mono and stereo room).

All microphones are controllable from the Mixer page with pan, width, volume, load/purge and separate outputs for each channel.

In the Effects section you can apply up to 8 different DSP effects including chorus, saturation, high quality EQ and convolution reverb with more than 40 custom impulses.

From the Settings page you can set the number of round robin repetitions, tweak the release volume, velocity curve and pre-shift or pre-roll of each sample individually.

Recorded with 3 velocity layers and 10 round robin, not only the keys but also paper noises and typewriter hits, rolls and much more. Separate note on and note off samples and one shots as well.
